Choose Lava Derm Dermo Wash for daily cleansing of face and neck, including sensitive skin: it is soap-free with a skin-compatible pH and a creamy, low-foam feel, used morning and evening. Choose Lava Derm Acne Wash for a fresh, foaming wash when your skin makes excess oil or is blemish-prone: its pack highlights panthenol, glycerin and vitamin E, and you start with one wash a day.
Key points
- Sensitive or easily irritated skin: start with Dermo Wash, morning and evening.
- Excess oil or blemish-prone skin: Acne Wash, once a day to start, twice only if skin stays comfortable.
- Pick one wash as your main step; do not add a second cleanser by habit.
- Rinse thoroughly and pat dry; no scrubbing.
Dermo Wash or Acne Wash: compare the actual differences
Dermo Wash is the creamy, low-foam daily wash that includes sensitive skin. Acne Wash is the fresh, foaming wash for excess oil and blemish-prone skin.
Sodium lactate, aloe vera leaf extract and urea help skin feel soft after rinsing. Shea butter glycerides give the light, creamy feel. In the foaming wash, panthenol (a moisturizer, also called pro-vitamin B5), glycerin and vitamin E help reduce the tight feel that can follow cleansing. These are ingredients with different jobs, not a count of how powerful a wash is.
Soap-free does not mean that a wash lacks cleansing ingredients. It uses cleansers other than traditional soap to help water carry away oil and dirt that water alone does not remove as easily. The cleansing ingredients also affect how much lather forms and how the product rinses away. If you are switching from a bar of soap, do not use a larger amount of Dermo Wash just to recreate the same foam.
Neither pack's highlights list salicylic acid; if you want to look for or avoid it, read the full ingredient list on the box.

Which wash fits your face today
Shine shows oil; stinging or tightness shows comfort. A shiny forehead can sit beside dry cheeks, so judge the whole face.
| What you notice | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Tight or stinging after washing | Lava Derm Dermo Wash | Soap-free, creamy and low-foam; the pack says it includes sensitive skin |
| Shiny forehead and nose, comfortable cheeks | Lava Derm Acne Wash | Massage focusing on oily zones; start once a day |
| Skin feels tight after the foaming wash | Stay at once a day, or switch to Lava Derm Dermo Wash | Acne Wash lists panthenol, glycerin and vitamin E to help reduce that tight feel; ask a pharmacist if it persists |
| Wash needed after sweating | Your usual wash, rinse and pat dry | A workout does not call for a longer massage or a second cleanser |
How to wash: follow the directions for your choice
The two washes are used on a wet face and neck, with a small amount worked into lather in your palms. Wet the skin with lukewarm water, then use your fingertips to spread the wash gently. Follow the massage direction in the comparison, rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a clean towel. After Acne Wash, follow with your regular toner or serum.
The American Academy of Dermatology advises washing no more than twice a day and after sweating. Dermo Wash is used morning and evening, and Acne Wash starts once a day.
Before first facial use, try a new product on a small area, following its rinse-off directions. Introduce changes separately so you can identify which step changes how your skin feels.
Where moisturizing care fits after cleansing
Lava Derm Re-Moist is an optional leave-on cream gel for lightweight moisture on oily or combination skin. It contains hyaluronic acid, ceramide 3 (a skin fat that helps skin hold water), zinc gluconate (a zinc salt used in oily-skin care) and niacinamide (vitamin B3), plus salicylic acid and glycolic and lactic acids (smoothing acids). If your current moisturizer already suits you, keep it; you do not need the cream gel to use either wash. Do not use it on broken or freshly irritated skin, and keep both washes, the cream gel and the sunscreen away from the eyes.
Common mistakes when using these washes
Rubbing with a cloth, extending the massage or washing again when shine returns adds friction or unnecessary cleansing. Change the habit before adding more products.
Do
- Use lukewarm water and your fingertips.
- Massage the Acne Wash 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Use the Dermo Wash morning and evening.
- Pat dry, then use sunscreen in the morning.
Avoid
- Very hot water, or a washcloth, mesh sponge or rough tool.
- Leaving a wash on as a mask.
- Washing a third routine time because shine returned.
- Adding a second cleanser by habit.
When to ask a doctor or pharmacist
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, on children, or on cracked or broken skin. Redness is harder to see on darker skin, so describe pain, warmth or swelling too.
A simple routine with either wash
Choose one of the cleansing steps below. The optional moisturizer starts in the evening; the sunscreen is your morning finish.
- 01
Cleanse
Pick this wash for sensitive or everyday skin. Massage and rinse as described above.
Lava Derm Dermo Wash - 02
Cleanse
Or pick this wash for excess oil. Massage and rinse as described above.
Lava Derm Acne Wash - 03
Seal (optional)
Optional moisturizer for oily or combination skin. Its pack lists salicylic, glycolic and lactic acids, so begin every other evening and increase only if skin stays comfortable. Apply a small amount to completely dry face and neck, using upward, circular strokes until absorbed. Always follow with broad-spectrum sunscreen during the daytime.
Lava Derm Re-Moist - 04
Protect
This oil-free, non-tinted sunscreen offers broad-spectrum SPF 50+ PA+++ protection. PA+++ is the pack’s UVA grade beside SPF 50+. Apply it to clean, dry face and neck as the final morning skincare step. Shake gently, then spread a generous, even layer 15 minutes before sun exposure. Pat lightly until fully absorbed and let the film set before applying makeup. Use every morning, even on cloudy days. Reapply every 2 hours, and after swimming, sweating or towel-drying.

Questions, answered clearly
Do I need both Dermo Wash and Acne Wash?
No. Pick one as your main wash: Dermo Wash for everyday and sensitive skin, Acne Wash for excess oil. The packs do not describe using both in one wash, so a second cleanser is not needed.
Can a foaming wash leave my skin tight?
It can for some people. If tightness stays, use it once a day only and ask a pharmacist if it continues.
How long should I leave Acne Wash on my face?
Massage gently for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, then rinse thoroughly. Do not leave it on as a mask.
Does low foam mean a face wash is not cleaning?
No. Foam depends on the formula. The Dermo Wash is a creamy, low-foam wash; the Acne Wash foams more. Judge a wash by whether oil and sunscreen rinse off comfortably.
Can I use these washes with prescribed skin care?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first, and keep the prescribed care as directed. Tell them which products you put on after washing, especially any that already cause dryness or peeling.
Do I need a moisturizer after these washes?
Acne Wash directions say to follow with your regular toner or serum, and its product page suggests a lightweight moisturizer. Dermo Wash directions end at patting dry. If you want a moisturizer, Re-Moist is the optional one in the routine below.
